Foundation & Concealer brushes

Usually made of polyester or nylon, these brushes are designed not to absord liquids, however regular cleaning is crucial for skin health and flawless makeup application.

How often should they be cleaned?

After every use, but minimum once per week. Foundation and other liquid/cream products can cause makeup residue, oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria to build up in the bristles, potentially leading to acne, irritation, and skin infections.

Powder Brushes

Made of natural or synthetic fibres. They pick up powder pigments beautifully but can dry out easily and pigments build up over time, leading to dull color payoff and uneven blending.

How often should they be cleaned:

Depending on how much product you use, a bi-weekly deep clean is fine.

The Challenge: Releasing deeply set pigment without causing shedding.

Blenders

Beauty blenders (and all makeup sponges) absorb liquids making them a breeding ground for bacteria and mold.

How often should they be cleaned?

Minimum once per week to prevent makeup residue from hardening inside the sponge and to minimize bacterial growth.

Ideally after every use especially if you have with acne-prone, oily, or sensitive skin. This ensures no bacteria is transferred back to your face.

Importantly, you should replace sponges and blenders every 3-4 Months. Even with regular cleaning, the material will eventually break down and trap bacteria/mold. Definitely replace them when you notice tears, a change in texture, or you just can't get them to rinse clean.
